2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projecting the first round after Week 5
Aaron Rodgers is an incredible quarterback who, in no way, should be worried about losing his job. However, earlier in the season when Rodgers went out of the game for a short period of time due to an injury, the Green Bay Packers turned to DeShone Kizer. And well, we quickly learned that wasn’t, at all, a reasonable solution. While on the topic of Rodgers’ injury, he is currently playing in games nowhere near 100 percent.
Rodgers is 34 years old and won’t play forever. While many compare him and Tom Brady, there is no guarantee he will play as long as him. It is time for the Packers to groom Rodgers’ replacement just as they developed him to replace Brett Farve.
As football progresses on its protection of players, particularly quarterbacks, a dual-threat quarterback becomes more and more valuable. Justin Herbert, out of Oregon, has a strong and relatively good mobility.
Last season, Herbert completed 67.5 percent of his passes for 15 touchdowns, and threw only five interceptions in eight games. Additionally, Herbert accounted for five rushing touchdowns. Through four games this season, Herbert already has 13 touchdowns.
Justin Herbert is 6-foot-6 and already throws the ball like a NFL quarterback. With a few years under Aaron Rodgers, Herbert has the potential to be a great professional quarterback.
