2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projecting the first round after Week 5
The Packers receive their second, first round pick from a previous deal with the New Orleans Saints. As previously mentioned, the Packers should select a quarterback in an effort to develop Aaron Rodgers’ eventual replacement. However, with any new toy, you have to buy the accessories to go with it.
Every young quarterback needs a go-to wide receiver to grow with. Montana and Rice, Manning and Harrison, Warner and Bruce, etc. Well as Randell Cobb continues to get older, he will likely go with Rodgers. Therefore, the Packers need to draft a quality receiver for their young quarterback.
Anthony Johnson from Buffalo is quietly one of the best wide receivers in college football. Last year, Johnson averaged over a touchdown a game with 14, in just 12 games. Furthermore, he had 76 receptions for 1,356 yards. This season, his numbers have remained just as impressive, with 18 receptions and 308 yards in four games. Johnson has the speed and size to make for a great NFL wide receiver.
