2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projecting the first round after Week 5
Patrick Mahomes, for the Kansas City Chiefs, looks to be the future of NFL quarterbacking. He has great resources at his disposal like Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce. However, the Chiefs will want to add more weapons to elevate their team into the status of a top-tier offense. Yes, the Chiefs do need help on defense. But this far down in the first round, Kansas City might as well become great at what they’re already good at.
Marquise Brown is a viable option to build the Chief’s receiving corps. Tyreek Hill is a great big-play receiver. With Brown’s great speed, most secondaries won’t be able to cover both players, facilitating deep passes that Mahomes already loves to throw.
Brown played in 13 games last season for the Oklahoma Sooners, and played a big role in Baker Mayfield’s success. In route to his Heisman trophy, Mayfield and Brown built great chemistry that led to Brown making 57 receptions for 1,095 yards and seven touchdowns last season. This year, Brown already has five touchdowns with Kyler Murray, which shows he has the ability to connect with different quarterbacks.
