Ohio State Football: 5 overreactions from comeback win vs. Penn State
1. Second-half adjustments saved Buckeyes’ playoff hopes
Urban Meyer and the Ohio State coaching staff have to get credit for turning things around on offense in the second half. The Buckeyes looked out of sync and couldn’t protect Haskins in the first two quarters and they walked away scoreless for the first time all season.
The second half adjustments were excellent. Although Haskins still had pressure in his face they were able to use screens to beat the blitzes Penn State dialed up and got big chunks of yardage down the field.
Heading into the fourth quarter the play calling was great as Haskins got the ball out to his receivers quickly and they were able to use the space given to them to make plays.
The same thing could be said for the Week 3 win over TCU and there may not be a better coaching staff in the country when it comes to making adjustments .
Ohio State’s next four games are all winnable in the conference but the coaching staff won’t allow the team to overlook anyone going forward. Heading into the month of October I expect the coaching staff to continue to work out the kinks on offense and fix the holes on defense until Nick Bosa can return from injury.
So those are the main overreactions you will hear Ohio State fans talk about on this week. Is there anything else you can think of as we head into Week 6? Comment below.
