Big 12 Football 2018: TCU moves back up Week 5 power rankings
Like the back four in the conference, the top three of Oklahoma, West Virginia and Texas remains intact this week. West Virginia’s second half struggles, and more specifically, Will Grier struggles are a little concerning, but to this point, they’re one of two undefeated teams. They survived their first real test of the year, and that’ll I can really ask for.
The next test doesn’t come until West Virginia enter nightmare month in November, so they should absolutely be 7-0 at the end of October. What they do against the four really good teams left on their schedule will determine their season. I’m excited to see if they can avoid stumbles between now and then.
The champs remain the champs until someone can dethrone them, and no one since Iowa State last year has done that. Oklahoma continued rolling against Baylor despite a devastating 70 second suspension for Kyler Murray (I’m sure that taught him a lesson). Murray was easily the best part of the game, as he lit Baylor up to the tune of 432 yards on 17/21 passing, six touchdowns in the air, and one more on the ground.
Murray is a Heisman contender, Oklahoma is still untouched to this point, and with Texas coming up, they’ve got their first real test. Let’s see if they pass and remain atop the conference next week. My prediction: they do.
