2. The Aggie seniors on defense will step up big-time
Texas A&M is a very young team. However, there are a strong group of seniors on the defense that this team couldn’t live without. Each has shown quite a bit of talent and fight as they begin to ready themselves to enter the NFL Draft at the end of the season. Each has contributed in a big way so far this season and I think that this month will be a big one for this group.
Let’s start with Kingsley Keke. This senior defensive tackle lost a big amount of weight in the off season and has made the move to defensive end in the absence of projected starter Michael Clemons. He has made an instant impact at that position and this team is blessed that he chose to return for one more year. The same is true for Landis Durham, a defensive lineman who also made the decision to stick around for one more year.
Linebacker Otaro Alaka, backed by junior Tyrel Dodson, has already had a big year and is likely to continue to grow as he pushes toward his NFL dream. He has all the ability to make a big time splash in the NFL, but right now he just has to show those professional teams that he has the talent to make it.
That leaves us with two big names, defensive lineman Daylon Mack and safety Donovan Wilson. Wilson was given a fifth year of elgibility due to an injury against UCLA in 2017. He has started this season with a splash and two targeting ejections. He will have to clean that up and this is the month to do it. Mack, on the other hand, is finally having the year many expected him to have when he started at A&M. Simply put, my bold prediction is that the month of October is a big one for these Aggie seniors.
