2. Georgia Tech offensive line stepped up huge against Louisville

The running game was able to put up so many yards for Georgia Tech because their offensive line gave so much room to run the ball. Though they lost guard Shamire Devine after last season, the Yellow Jackets still returned 75 combined starts on the offensive line this season. It showed big time against Louisville on the road.

The veteran group continually open wide boulevards for TaQuon Marshall and the other running backs to run through. Only twice all game did the Yellow Jackets lose yardage on a rushing play. They never took a single sack. And only two other times did Georgia Tech finish a rushing play with no gain.

TaQuon Marshall was able to take an early day after rushing for 175 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 23 carries. The backups did just as well, as Tobias Oliver also went over 100 rushing yards, both Oliver and Qua Searcy finished with a pair of rushing touchdowns, and the team posted eight total rushing scores.

Offensive line coach Mike Sewak won’t find much to correct when he goes back to look at this week’s film. The unit up front got the job done in the trenches against the Cardinals defensive front, and it was the big reason why Georgia Tech managed to have such a prolific day on the ground in Kentucky.
