Ohio State Football: 5 bold predictions for October 2018
4. Tate Martell will play almost as much as Dwayne Haskins
Look at that schedule, Ohio State should just flat-out dominate opponents in the month of October and it’ll do just that.
What does this have to do with Tate Martell? Well, he’s going to be on the field for most of each game’s second half. With the Buckeyes up comfortably against Indiana, Minnesota and Purdue, the backup quarterback will get a chance to prove himself as the future under center.
Yes, this is the first full season with Dwayne Haskins as starter and no, he’s not going to be replaced by Martell any time soon. However, Haskins is likely to leave after his junior campaign in 2019, if all goes as planned. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the country and Martell is patiently waiting his turn as a former blue-chip recruit.
Martell will fare well against each of these three defenses and he’s going to showcase his running ability as much as his arm.
Craving more Martell? October is the month for you.
