4. Justice Hill gets more than 25 carries in every game

It took Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy way too long to figure out that his junior running back Justice Hill is the best and most reliable weapon he has on the offensive side of the ball. Hill is not the only weapon he has on the ground either.

This is not a great sign that Hill got 31 carries in the win over Kansas, but at least he finally got used in the proper fashion. Yet, he’ll but much more important in facing teams like Iowa State (with David Montgomery) and Texas (with Keaontay Ingram and Sam Ehlinger).

It’s very possible that Hill is the best running back in the Big 12, and one of the best offensive weapons overall. Although Gundy is accustomed to relying on the passing game on offense, something will have to change this year. He has too much talent in the backfield between Hill, J.D. King, Chuba Hubbard, etc. not to

.Now, Hill has racked up more than 500 rushing yards and six touchdowns. The fact that Hill is getting a lot less work so far than he did in the past two years, but is actually more efficient, is difficult to figure out. Moving forward, offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich needs to give the ball to his starting running back that’s averaging 7.5 yards per carry more often.
