BYU Football: 3 takeaways from disappointing loss to Utah State

2. Jordan Love is the best FBS quarterback in the Beehive State
Tyler Huntley, the quarterback at the University of Utah, has regressed in 2018 after taking over as the starter for the Utes last year. Tanner Mangum, the 25-year-old veteran starter for BYU, has continued to have a hot-and-cold career for the Cougars.
That leaves Utah State redshirt sophomore Jordan Love as the clear pick for the best quarterback in the Beehive State. In the battle for the Old Wagon Wheel, Love pounced on the Cougars defense to post a career-high four touchdown passes.
Love finished 18-of-28 for 165 yards, and he avoided turning the ball over. That put Love up over 1000 yards on the season, as he averages 7.9 yards per attempt and sits in the top 25 in yards per game. The big performance in Provo boosted his season averages and his efficiency numbers as Love looks prepared to jump further up the list of top quarterbacks in the country.
In his second year as the Aggies starter, Love is proving himself to be the best quarterback in Utah this year. Already featuring a strong running game, Utah State is only going to continue to get better as Love continues to develop over the next few years.
