Texas will vault further up the AP Top 25 this week after surviving a fourth-quarter comeback bid by No. 7 Oklahoma. The Longhorns needed a late field goal by freshman kicker Cameron Dicker, but they still walked off the field at the Cotton Bowl with a major statement win in a 48-45 victory over the rival Sooners in the Red River Shootout.

Sam Ehlinger had another breakout moment, showing his leadership throughout the victory. Ehlinger finished with 314 passing yards and 72 rushing yards, racking up five total touchdowns (two through the air, three on the ground) along the way. The Longhorns defense forced a Kyler Murray interception and two fumbles, while the offense avoided giving ball away once.

Texas faces one more game before their bye week, at home against Baylor. They will almost certainly climb ahead of the Sooners in the AP Top 25 this week, though where the two teams will be linked up remains a question. They will likely fall somewhere just outside the top 10 in the pre-teens or low teens.
