1. SMU needs to pick a quarterback and stick with them

SMU started the game with William Brown at quarterback who was quickly replaced by Ben Hicks once SMU got down 21-7. Hicks had a decent showing going 15 of 23 for 153 yards and a touchdown. Brown returned to the game in the fourth quarter and ended with 84 yards and a touchdown.

Ben Hicks had been the starter earlier in the season but struggled mightily and Dykes decided to go with Brown. For my money you need to pick your guy and stick with him. Playing musical quarterbacks does not give whoever you end up with confidence. On top of that it negates and rhythm your quarterback can create with his receivers.

If you decide Hicks is you guy this season you have to stick with him and take the lumps that can come with a quarterback that does not make good decision consistently. If Dykes decides to go with Brown you have to also stick by him as he struggles and to put him in position to use his athleticism to help the team.
