When it comes to quarterback play this season, Kansas has thrown both Peyton Bender and Carter Stanley out under center. This past weekend, it was Bender nearly leading the Jayhawks to an upset over West Virginia.

Kansas hung around until the end, but couldn’t overcome Will Grier and the Mountaineers, falling 38-22. Bender, a transfer from Washington State, was 16-of-25 for 191 yards with two touchdowns, as Stanley completed 5-of-8 for 15 yards and a pick.

Both have played in five games this season, with Bender completed 69 of 114 for 681 yards and six scores to just one pick. Stanley, meanwhile, is 34-for-47 for 304 yards with three touchdowns.

Bender didn’t play in a loss to Oklahoma State, but seems set as the starter moving forward with games against Texas Tech, TCU and Iowa State on the horizon.
