Last year, it was Kyle Kempt who stepped in for Jacob Park and led Iowa State to a road victory over Oklahoma in one of the biggest upsets of the season.

This year, Brock Purdy pulled his best Kempt routine by coming off the bench to lead the Cyclones to a win at Oklahoma State.

Purdy, a freshman who was recruited by Alabama before electing to attend ISU, completed 18-of-23 passes for 318 yards with four touchdowns. He also helped fill the void left by David Montgomery’s injury, running for a team-high 84 yards on 19 carries with another score.

Zeb Noland, who was replacing Kempt at quarterback, was pulled following the first series. And if this past weekend was any indication, this will be Purdy’s team moving forward for head coach Matt Campbell, who also serves as his own offensive coordinator.
