Big 12 Football Power Rankings 2018: There’s a new No. 1 in Week 6
This happened a couple of times last week, and is happening again here. Baylor dropped a spot in my rankings this week, not because of anything that they did, but rather because a team behind them (Iowa State) deserved a bump, and well, somebody had to fall for that to happen. Baylor took care of business against Kansas State, and while I don’t think they’re going to do a ton of damage in the rest of the season, they’re two wins from bowl eligibility. For just his second year, that’s great progress for Matt Rhule.
Oklahoma State’s new and improved defense got rocked by a true freshman quarterback, while the former walk-on quarterback that Mike Gundy started exclusively because of his age was thoroughly outclassed by said true freshman. Oklahoma State is frankly not a very good team right now, and they proved that again on Saturday.
That’s okay! Oklahoma State has to have rebuilding years sometimes, and this is a rebuilding year! I see about seven wins on the schedule, and when they get a better quarterback, and hopefully a better defense in next year, they should be right back to competing for the Big 12 title. This year though? It’s not the one for the Cowboys.
