Texas’ win over Oklahoma is a big deal. They dominated in the trenches, their defense was great for three quarters, and Sam Ehlinger finally put it all together and had great game, lighting Oklahoma up with his legs and in the air. This is the kind of the win that can really get everyone to buy into a new coach, and because of it, Texas jumps to number two in my rankings.

I’m still not buying it though. I still don’t trust Texas. Winning as an underdog is not new to them. I want to see them winning the routine games. I want to see Texas play Baylor this week and get a win, like great teams are supposed to. I want to see Texas beat Oklahoma State, and square off with West Virginia. If they win all those games? I’ll buy in. Until then, Texas is just a good team. Not back.

I don’t really have much to say about West Virginia. They thought about losing to Kansas for a couple of quarters before pulling away, which isn’t great, but I’m not super worried about it. Will Grier still looked good, despite three redzone interceptions (that won’t happen again), and there’s no real reason for me to be super worried about the Mountaineers.

However, as has been the theme with them this year, we still don’t know a lot about this team. Iowa State will test them, but we’re not super sure how much. The November of death still looms large for the new kings of the conference.
