4. Jake Fromm is mortal in road games

Jake Fromm was a revelation for Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs last season, taking the reins from Jacob Eason and leading Georgia to their first SEC Championship since 2005, and coming oh-so-close to leading the Bulldogs to their first National Championship since 1980.

While Fromm has been outstanding since taking over as Georgia’s starting quarterback, he goes from being great to merely good when they play on the road. Here are his career splits:

Home: 71.4 completion percentage, 190 Passing YPG, 19 TD, 2 INT, 196.2 QBR

Away: 59.3 completion percentage, 169.8 Passing YPG, 11 TD, 4 INT, 150.8 QBR

Those splits aren’t exactly night and day, and his away stats are very respectable, but he has become mortal in true road games. This will also be the strongest defense he has been up against this season.

The average defensive S&P+ of teams Georgia has faced this season is 67th. They’ve only faced one defense that currently ranks in the Top-50 of those metrics. The only comparable road environments that Fromm has faced in his career so far were in South Bend and Auburn last season. In the two games against Notre Dame and Auburn, Fromm posted two of his three worst games of the regular season in terms of QBR. Georgia narrowly escaped with a win over the Irish, and then got throttled on the Plains against Auburn.

Fromm is obviously more than capable of coming up huge in a big spot for LSU as he has proven before, but he will need a strong performance for Georgia to escape Death Valley with a win.
