Group of Five Power Rankings, Week 6: AAC trio continues to lead race
By Zach Bigalke
Already more than halfway through their 2018 regular-season schedule, Hawaii moved to 6-1 on the year with a 17-13 victory over Wyoming. The Rainbow Warriors held their guests to 244 total yards of offense, clamping down especially on Tyler Vander Waal‘s arm. The Wyoming quarterback finished with only 87 yards through the air on 9-of-16 passing.
Cole McDonald was unable to play for the Rainbow Warriors, so Chevan Cordeiro got the start at quarterback and finished 19-of-29 for 148 yards, with a pair of touchdowns and an interception. Dayton Furuta added 101 rushing yards on 16 carries, while the team finished with 156 total yards on the ground.
BYU travels to the island in Week 7 trying to unseat the Rainbow Warriors. McDonald is expected to be back on the field for Hawaii, which will help keep Hawaii in the running in the MWC West race alongside San Diego State and Fresno State. They have to play both teams on the road, Fresno State at the end of October and San Diego State at the end of November.
