2. Tyler Huntley continues to improve at quarterback for Utah

Utah, on the other hand, got everything they needed and then some out of starting quarterback Tyler Huntley. The junior was the leader of the offense as Huntley scored three different ways. In the process, he proved himself one of the top quarterbacks in the Pac-12 South this year.

Huntley was pulled out of the game in the fourth quarter after piling up 201 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air on 14-of-19 passing. Though he did throw one interception, Utah’s defense bailed Huntley out by holding Arizona scoreless on the play. There was little that Arizona could do to slow down the quarterback, because he beat them with more than just his arm.

Where Huntley really showed his varied skills was when he became part of the trickery dialed up by offensive coordinator Troy Taylor. Huntley used his legs both as a rusher and a receiver, scoring both ways in addition to his two passing scores. The quarterback finished with 64 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. He added a 58-yard double-pass touchdown reception from Britain Covey that broke any chance Arizona might have still had to pull off the comeback.

Even with the Utes just 2-2 in conference play, Huntley makes Kyle Whittingham’s team one of the biggest threats to Colorado in the Pac-12 South this season. Next week’s home game will give Huntley another chance to make his name known on a national scale when USC comes to town.
