1. Jake Browning is a shell of himself

The struggles of Washington quarterback Jake Browning have been well documented and puzzling for quite some time. After an incredible sophomore season in which he threw for 3,430 yards and 43 touchdowns, the Huskies’ signal-caller has been anything but spectacular. Browning threw 19 touchdowns as a junior and is on pace for fewer than that in 2019, thanks in part to a one touchdown performance against the Oregon Ducks.

A four-year starter without a proven option behind him. Browning isn’t going anywhere. He’s not going to be benched, but he’s not going to revert to his old ways either. That poses a problem for the Huskies’ ceiling as a program this year, something that was apparent from the quarterback play on Saturday.

Browning completed 15-of-25 passes for 243 yards, one touchdown and one interception. It was a largely uninspiring performance that would have looked much worse had he not found Ty Jones in the endzone on a long bomb. Former Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason is in line to start for the Huskies in 2019, but for now, the Huskies’ hopes rest on the beleaguered arm of Browning.
