1. MVP – QB Kyler Murray

Until this past weekend, the MVP of the Big 12 looked to be West Virginia quarterback Will Grier, however, he was shut down by Iowa State. In addition, Grier’s interception total has more than doubled in the last two games. Kyler Murray is the better choice for MVP of the conference so far.

Coming into the season, it was going to be difficult to fill the shoes of Baker Mayfield. Murray has successfully made the transition under center for the Sooners. The fans are not quite saying “Baker Who?”, but Murray has been successful in his own right so far.

In six games, Murray has thrown for 1764 yards while completing just over 71 percent of his passes. He has thrown 21 touchdowns to only three interceptions and added another five touchdowns on the ground.

Against Baylor, he did not start the game due to showing up late for a practice earlier in the week. When he did enter the game, he simply passed for over 400 yards and six touchdowns. Even in the Sooners lone loss against Texas, he did all he could to put the Sooners in position to win by throwing for over 300 yards and scoring five touchdowns.

There is a reason why Murray is on the Heisman watch list. He is as good as advertised. If the Sooners are to make a run for the Big 12 championship, it will be a run led by Murray.
