Group of Five Power Rankings, Week 7: AAC and MWC lead race
By Zach Bigalke
Cincinnati falls one spot in the Group of Five Power Rankings this week despite neither winning nor losing. Their drop is the result of the action that did take place in Week 7 rather than anything the Bearcats did wrong. And Luke Fickell’s team will have plenty of time to climb back up into the top position this year.
Through their first six games, no team has been better at reducing opponents’ passing efficiency than the Bearcats. The defense ranks in the top five in both points allowed and yards conceded per game. And the offense is a top-30 outfit as well, averaging more than 38 points and 465 yards each outing. Michael Warren II has led the team on the ground, and he currently ranks fourth in the FBS in rushing touchdowns this year.
As one of the three remaining undefeated teams in the AAC, Cincinnati has ample opportunity to overtake UCF for the top spot. The Bearcats play at Temple and at SMU to close out October play, with South Florida and a trip to UCF still looming in mid-November.
