Iowa Football: 3 bold predictions against Maryland
2. Kasim Hill gets some rhythm
If you look at statistically this season, Kasim Hill has been a pretty effective quarterback, throwing for 654 yards, six touchdowns and only two interceptions. However, he only has a completion percentage of 53.4 percent and some Maryland fans are beginning to feel a little uneasy about Hill’s ability to throw the ball down field as well as his inability to get things going in D.J. Durkin’s spread option attack.
However, this week Hill may have some help as it appears for the third week in a row, Iowa will be starting true freshman cornerbacks Riley Moss and Julius Brents. While the combo hasn’t been bad by any means, they have been a bit leaky at times simply due to their inexperience. Match this with Iowa’s fearsome defensive line, expect Hill to throw a lot of timing passes to counter the mismatch up front.
Iowa’s passing defense has wavered a little bit the last couple weeks, which may give Kasim Hill the bounce back he needs to get back into rhythm. Hill will likely have 250+ yards passing and two touchdown passes. While I don’t think it will be enough for the Terrapins, it will definitely be an encouraging sign.
