Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic – Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs Ohio State Buckeyes

To get the best TV ratings and to make the most money, the playoff committee would most likely set it up for Alabama to potentially play both Clemson and Ohio State

The Ohio State Buckeyes won on Saturday but for the second straight week got off to a slow start in the first half before pulling away after halftime. The run game was the opposite of great but thanks to another big game from Dwayne Haskins, the Buckeyes were able to fend off the Minnesota Golden Gophers’ upset attempt. The Buckeyes will need to avoid these slow starts as they still have two games against ranked conference foes. The Buckeyes have shown that they’re one of the best in the nation, but they should probably start playing like one for all four quarters.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish also found themselves on upset alert as the narrowly escaped with a 19-14 win over the Pitt Panthers. The Irish trailed the entire game before their eventual game winning touchdown with under six minutes to play. Ian Book threw two interceptions and the Irish offense only ran for 80 yards. But team’s are allowed a bad game and after the prior two games Notre Dame played in, we’ll give them a break. With a bye week, the Irish can now prepare for their final five games as they try to remain undefeated and in playoff contention.
