Allstate Sugar Bowl – Oklahoma Sooners vs LSU Tigers

First matchup between these two since the 2004 BCS Championship Game.

The LSU Tigers are back in our New Year’s Six projections after they hand handled the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 7. The Tiger offense was led by their rushing attack that racked up 275 yards and three scores in their big win. And thanks to their defense forcing four turnovers, the Tigers were able to pick up another key win on the season.

The SEC gauntlet isn’t over yet for the Tigers, as LSU takes on the Mississippi State Bulldogs this Saturday, and following a bye week, take on the Alabama Crimson Tide on the first Saturday of November. Both games are home games for the Tigers as they look to continue to shock the college football world.

The Oklahoma Sooners had the week off following their Week 6 loss to the Texas Longhorns. Because the Big 12 has a conference championship, despite each team playing one another during the regular season, the Sooners are still very much alive for not only a conference championship and a berth in the College Football Playoff. Expect a big win from the Sooners this weekend as they take on a struggling TCU tea on the road.

Getting back into the win column is important, but doing so in blowout fashion, can spark a run that is unstoppable. But the Sooners need to stay focused and should not have their eyes fixated on a rematch with Texas. They’ll get their rematch, but need to take care of everything else in between first.
