2. The best of Deondre Francois is behind him

There was a time when Deondre Francois led a Florida State team that drew national accolades. As a redshirt freshman in 2016, Francois and the Seminoles climed to No. 2 in the nation before finishing 10-3 with an Orange Bowl win over No. 6 Michigan. They ended the season No. 8  in the final AP Poll.

Francois was phenomenal that year, throwing for 3,350 yards and 20 touchdowns. Unfortunately for him and the Noles, he’s never been the same since suffering his season-ending injury against Alabama in the 2017 opening game.

Since then, Francois has thrown 13 touchdowns and six interceptions. Beyond the numbers, the masses have begun to wonder if its time for Taggart to move onto James Blackman, the backup quarterback who took over last season during Francois’ recovery. Blackman was far from perfect in 2017, but grumblings suggested he might be better equipped to succeed under Taggart than Francois.

For now, Francois is the starter. He completed 29-of-40 passes for 353 yards and two touchdowns. He didn’t throw any interceptions. That’s fine, but it’s nothing special.
