2. Boomer! Sooners

The Oklahoma Sooners are in a class of their own in the Big 12, and they should be gaining some serious traction in the College Football Playoff discussion. Coming off a loss to the Texas Longhorns and a bye week that saw their biggest threat in the Big 12 lose (West Virginia), the Sooners came out Saturday on a mission.

They built a 28-7 lead in the first half, only to see it dwindle to four by the break. The Sooners and Horned Frogs each kicked field goals early in the third quarter to make it 31-27, but TCU would be shut out the rest of the way while Oklahoma hung three more touchdowns on the board.

Kyler Murray is the best quarterback in the Big 12, and the Sooners’ defense is continuing to make strides. With Kansas State up next, Oklahoma will continue to build on their outstanding performance against TCU.

The Texas game remains on the books, but this team isn’t slowing down. If the Longhorns stumble the Sooners will be ready. The Big 12 race is far from over.
