1. Don’t forget about the running game

While Milton is undoubtedly the centerpiece of the UCF offense, the running game has been solid for the Knights as well. With Milton not under center on Saturday, the Knights had to lean primarily on the ground game instead. Mack Jr. carried the load of the carries but the running backs also pitched in.

Greg McCrae, a sophomore tailback, was the main rusher out of the running back group. He finished a yard short of a 100-yard game and broke off a couple of big runs as he only rushed five times for a 19.8-yard average. McCrae also scored a rushing touchdown.

Adrian Killins didn’t gain as many yards as McCrae, but he took most of the carries from the backfield. He ran the ball 15 times for 44 yards.

While Milton has a running ability just as Mack Jr. displayed on Saturday, the Knights also have two dependable options at tailback that were on the team a season ago when UCF went unbeaten.

Of course, Milton and the passing attack will be the focal point of the offense moving forward, but in the event of a long-term unavailability, the Knights shouldn’t have many issues scoring points.

Not only does UCF have a running quarterback behind Milton, but there is also potential to gain yardage through the ground as well.
