NC State’s dreams of an upset were dashed early by Clemson as the Tigers ran right through the Wolfpack, leading 24-0 at halftime en route to a 41-7 win.

NC State quarterback Ryan Finley came into the game leading the ACC in passing yards per game and was 2nd in passing efficiency behind Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence. He was harassed by a stout Clemson front, and managed just 156 yards through the air, with two interceptions and a costly fumble deep in Clemson territory in the first quarter.

The loss is far from devastating for NC State; despite their record, they weren’t serious ACC Championship contenders. However, the Wolfpack do finish the season with a pretty favorable schedule that could see them make a push for a New Year’s Six bowl game.

They’ll look to rebound next week in what could be a tricky road game at Syracuse.
