The Ducks could not survive a raucous Pullman environment in a 34-20 loss at the hands of Washington State. After last week’s upset of Washington, the Ducks were flying high at the head of the PAC-12 standings, but were probably a little overrated based on advanced metrics.

Oregon fell behind 27-0 before scoring their first point. They staged a furious second-half rally led by their quarterback Justin Herbert, getting all the way within 7 points in the fourth quarter. Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Dezmon Patmon with 3:40 to go to put the final nail in Oregon’s coffin.

This is a big loss for Oregon’s PAC-12 Championship hopes as the Ducks suffered their second conference setback and now fall to fourth place behind Washington, Washington State, and Stanford.

The Ducks get Arizona and UCLA in consecutive weeks in what should be two relatively easy victories that allow them to iron out some issues before the stretch run of the season.
