It was an ugly, windy day in Iowa City that made every shred of offense difficult, but the Hawkeyes were able to cruise to a relatively easy 23-0 win over Maryland. With the wind knocking down passes left and right, Iowa relied on their ground game, which totaled 224 yards rushing.

The star of the show, however, was the Iowa defense that dominated the Maryland offense, holding the Terrapins to just 115 total yards of offense.

The Hawkeyes are still very much alive in the Big Ten West race, needing just a single Wisconsin loss the rest of the way to put them back in the lead. Iowa’s schedule sets up well for a 10-2 or even 11-1 finish, which would give Kirk Ferentz’s crew a real shot at a berth in the New Year’s Six.

The biggest challenge remaining on Iowa’s schedule is next week as they travel to to Happy Valley to take on Penn State.
