2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projected first round after Week 8
By Dana Becker
First, the bad news involving Nick Bosa, the star defensive end from the Ohio State has left the team. After electing to undergo surgery to repair a core muscle, Bosa announced that he will withdraw from the school to prepare for the NFL Draft.
While that’s a tough break for the Buckeyes and college football fans, it should give Oakland – assuming they do end up with the top pick in the spring – a sigh of relief that Bosa is prepared for his next chapter as most expected him to make this decision after back-to-back standout seasons.
Bosa, the younger brother of current NFL superstar Joey Bosa, played in three games this season. He recorded four sacks and six total tackles for loss, scoring his first career defensive touchdown. Bosa also had 14 total tackles, showing that he is only getting better.
As a freshman, Bosa was in on 29 stops with seven being for loss and five sacks. He improved those numbers to 34 tackles, 16 for loss and 8.5 sacks last season as a sophomore.
The Raiders are in desperate need of a pass-rusher, so filling that void with the selection of Bosa is a pretty easy one. He would slide in to take over for either Bruce Irvin or Fadol Brown at the end spot along the line, but could easily bulk up and move to tackle as well.
