2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projected first round after Week 8
By Dana Becker
The draft always seems to see these position-specific runs take place, though usually they are reserved for the middle of the rounds and not at the top. But with so much emphasis being placed on the offense, teams are starting to realize that they also need players on the other side of the ball to get more stops than the opposition.
Quinnen Williams comes from an Alabama program designed to prepare players for the NFL. And to prepare them to make an immediate impact, just like Williams did when he arrived on campus two years ago.
As a redshirt freshman, Williams saw action in nine games for the Crimson Tide, recording two sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss. While those numbers might not impress you compared to some of the other talent in the draft at his position, Williams rotates in with several other would-be NFL players for Nick Saban.
The 6-foot-4, 289-pounder has continued to excel this season, already surpassing his tackles for loss total from a season ago, along with his total tackles number. After allowing several players to hang around too long, the Cardinals are finally starting to lower that median age.
Williams would slide right in to join Robert Nkemdiche and Chandler Jones in the trenches for Arizona, helping free up linebackers Gerald Hodges, Josh Bynes and others to make plays.
