West Virginia was on a bye this week, and probably won’t be able to move up until their matchup with Texas in two weeks.

Where does West Virginia finish: 2. West Virginia’s nightmare November is looking much more manageable right now, and I think they do just that. West Virginia wins their next five games, rising all the way up to 10-1, and into playoff contention, as they face off with Oklahoma in the final week of the season. They lose that game, but beat the Sooners in the conference title rematch, keeping the conference out of the playoff.

Iowa State remains at three after their bye week, because I still think they’re better than Texas Tech at this point. Luckily, this will be solved this weekend, when the two teams square off. If Texas Tech wins, I’ll probably swap the two teams.

Where does Iowa State finish: 3. I’ve got Iowa State beating Texas Tech this weekend, which leaves just one good opponent left on their schedule, in the form of a November road trip to Austin. I doubt Iowa State can win that game, but it certainly wouldn’t surprise me either. Win or lose that game, Iowa State would have several quality wins, and at the worst, an 8-4 record. That’s worthy of the top three.
