Notre Dame Improves on Bye Week

Again, I hate doing this, but Notre Dame moves up one spot in the rankings even after not playing at all this week. But once again, since Ohio State lost, there are no other undefeated teams that are deserving of a spot. Yes, UCF, but we are holding on them for now.

Michigan and Notre Dame are in mutual support of each other. As both teams continue to win, both teams benefit. The Irish’s wins make the Wolverines loss, a stronger loss. And as Michigan continues to win, Notre Dame’s strength of schedule becomes even better.

The Irish had a bye week this week before they head to San Diego to face the Navy Midshipmen in a neutral site game. Most years, I would suggest Notre Dame may be in danger of upset in this scenario. However, Navy is not as good as they have been in recent years, and the Irish did have a week to prepare for Ken Niumatalolo’s triple-option offense.

With that said, Notre Dame and Clemson have the easiest route to the College Football Playoff out of every team in the Top 10.
