Utah State moves up into a virtual tie with San Diego State this week after they downed Wyoming 24-16 in Laramie in Week 8 action. The Aggies knocked off the Cowboys on the road despite a rough day on offense, as special teams and defense bailed them out.

Aggies quarterback Jordan Love threw for only 53 yards and an interception on 12-of-28 passing. But Darwin Thompson racked up 109 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground, helping pace Utah State to victory. The defense held Wyoming quarterbacks Sean Chambers and Tyler Vander Waal to only 100 combined yards on 10-of-24 passing, and Vander Waal threw a pick.

With a win against Boise State in their back pocket, Utah State effectively has a two-game lead in the MWC Mountain race as all other teams in the division have at least two conference defeats on their record.

With their only loss of the year coming in a one-touchdown defeat on the road at Michigan State in the season opener, Utah State has reeled off six straight wins. They take their winning streak back home in Week 9 to face a reeling New Mexico team coming off two straight losses.
