2. Keep far away from trap games from here on out

Pitt gives so many opponents a rough ride that it’s difficult to say that Notre Dame football was going to get away from them completely unscathed. However, one of the reasons why so many fans had faith in Book over Wimbush was the fact that he was sealing the deal early in games, starting with the win earlier in the season over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Notre Dame does have some potential trap games left on the slate this year. Even though it seems like the most difficult portion of the 2018 regular season schedule is already over for the Irish, there are still some quality opponents left. Teams like the Florida State Seminoles and Syracuse Orange out of the ACC are trending up right now.

And, two games that stick out as the remaining trap games for Notre Dame come against Florida State and the Northwestern Wildcats on the road. It seems like not even Northwestern can figure out its identity this year, especially after losing star running back Jeremy Larkin for the rest of his career due to a spine disease.

If the USC Trojans start to recover from a down year before the regular season finale for the Irish on Nov. 24, that could be a difficult test on the road too. Notre Dame needs to be careful down the stretch. Despite some of the toughest opponents already out of the way, the remaining slate can still be tricky.
