1. Boston College beats Miami

The Las Vegas oddsmakers seem to have Miami as a 3.5 point road favorite which means they really see Miami as a touchdown better program than Boston College. Sure, Vegas takes into consideration weather, injuries, quarterback controversy and being on the road but they can’t account for heart.

The Eagles have been playing with a fire to make their hard work the past few seasons pay off. With star running back AJ Dillon back and healthy they’re that much better than before he went out. Now The Eagles have Ben Glines and David Bailey game-ready for ACC competition like the Hurricanes. Miami’s defense is ranked 12th in the country but gave up 31 points to LSU in week 1 and while they shut down UVA the Eagles have more firepower on offense than the Hoos.

Anthony Brown’s favorite target is wide receiver Jeff Smith. The six-foot-one Smith averages 18.2 yards per reception and has three receiving touchdowns. Smith is a multi-talented athlete who played quarterback as a freshman and has 15 career touchdowns from scrimmage.

The Hurricanes have deep threats in Jeff Thomas and Lawrence Cager who average 23.6 and 17.7 yards per catch, respectively. The question is can Rosier or Perry (or Williams) find them the football while fending off the Eagles pass rush. B.C. defensive linemen Wyatt Ray and Zach Allen have 13 combined sacks and defensive back Hamp Cheevers has four interceptions on the season.

Miami will struggle with the quarterback shuffle and their offensive line will have a dogfight in keeping Ray and Allen off of their quarterback.

Prediction: Miami 16 – Boston College 17
