Cornerback John Reid had a rough start to the season. He was caught out of position on many occasions and not making the tackles he should be. The ill effects of his season ending injury a year ago were taking their toll. However, the last few games have been much better and he earned a Blitz Sticker for his play against Iowa.

Reid came up with a huge play with the Lions down 14-7 midway through the second quarter. Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley overthrew his intended target and the ball landed right in the arms of Reid at the Iowa 47 yard line. He dashed and darted his way down the field and dove for the end zone, getting nailed out of bounds three yards short. The next play, Tommy Stevens took it in for the score and the Lions had tied it up after having a mostly terrible first half.

In addition to his interception and great return, Reid had three passes defensed. He also contributed to the great amount of pressure that Stanley faced all afternoon. It was Reid’s best performance of the year. He now appears back to his old form right at the perfect time as the Lions hit the home stretch.
