2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projected first round after Week 9
Adding Ed Oliver to a defensive line that already boasts Chandler Jones and Robert Nkemdiche would give the Cardinals one of the most feared defensive lines in the NFL, and a unit to build the team around going forward.
Oliver hasn’t posted as gaudy of statistics as some expected, but he is seeing constant double and triple teams from the opposition. Even still, Oliver has managed to be very productive, racking up 13.5 tackles for loss. He is very much in the conversation for the top overall pick.
Oliver missed Houston’s win over USF on Saturday after suffering a minor knee injury against Navy after taking numerous cut blocks from the Midshipmen’s option attack.
The Cardinals could also use help along the offensive line with D.J. Humphries being in his option season and right tackle Andre Smith being a place-holder at the position until they find a long term solution.
They could also look at bringing in a corner to go opposite Patrick Peterson, or to replace Peterson if the relationship between him and the organization is irreparable.
