College Football Playoff: Longhorns fall, Wildcats rise in New Year’s Six projections
Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic – Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs Clemson Tigers
The last time these two met the game was decided by a two-point conversion.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish face a tough test this Saturday as they go on the road to face the Northwestern Wildcats. The Wildcats are 5-3, but have dominated in conference play going 5-1, picking up wins over Michigan State and Wisconsin, giving them a commanding lead in the Big Ten West. Notre Dame has stood the test in prior big-time matchups but this game has upset written all over it. Notre Dame doesn’t have the pleasure of being in a conference, so a one-loss season hurts them a little bit more than it does someone else, especially this late in the season.
The Clemson Tigers embarrassed the Florida State Seminoles with a 59-10 beat-down over their conference rival in Week 9 and look to be well on their way to a perfect season. They have some potentially tough games remaining on their schedule against Boston College and Duke, but you kind of laugh a little when you read that out loud. Clemson is almost a lock for the College Football Playoff, and with both sides of the ball clicking, there looks to be no slowing down the Tigers.
