College Football Playoff: Longhorns fall, Wildcats rise in New Year’s Six projections
PlayStation Fiesta Bowl – West Virginia Mountaineers vs Georgia Bulldogs
Rematch of the 2006 Sugar Bowl that saw 73 total points scored.
The West Virginia Mountaineers take on the Texas Longhorns in one of the biggest games of the 2018 season. This game has conference, New Year’s Six and playoff implications on the line. If West Virginia wins, their chances for all three get stronger but a loss, would eliminate both their playoff and conference title chances. On the other side, the Longhorns would benefit the same with a win but would suffer more with a loss, as a three-win team making a New Year’s Six bowl is unlikely. Can the Longhorns defense slow down the Mountaineers or can West Virginia “Will Grier” their way to a win?
The Georgia Bulldogs bounced back from their Week 7 loss to the LSU Tigers with a 36-17 victory over the Florida Gators. It has been a tale of two teams showing up for the Bulldogs in their last two games, and depending on which teams show up this Saturday against the Wildcats will determine the Bulldogs’ December fate. The Bulldog lost a lot of players from their 2018 season, including 8 starters on defense, but have found a way to put themselves in prime position to get revenge for last season’s National Championship overtime defeat. The Bulldogs road to redemption is still intact but another loss will detour them to the 2019 season.
