College Football 2018: 5 reasons to be excited for week 10
1 Alabama finally gets tested
The Crimson Tide have cruised through a fairly easy schedule in 2018. Alabama will have to come out prepared to face LSU in Death Valley. The Crimson Tide are ranked 1st overall by the S&P+ and are led by, wait for it, their offense which is 2nd overall per the same metric. The Tigers are ranked 13th per the S&P+ with a 7-1 record this year. LSU Coach Ed Orgeron always seems to have a warm seat but manages to cool it off over time.
Orgeron versus Saban is a great coaching matchup with the gravely voiced Coach O facing LSU’s former coach and national championship loving Saban. Alabama’s offense has been on fire with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback guided the Crimson Tide to a top ranking in the nation in points per play. The Tide are in good hands with Tagovailoa and his 25 touchdowns without a single interception. The Hawaiian native is averaging 13.6 yards per passing attempt and has also ran for 4.7 yards per carry.
LSU has an athletic, hard hitting defense but Joe Burrow needs to play the game of a lifetime for the Tigers to beat the Crimson Tide. Burrow is averaging 6.9 yards per passing attempt and has thrown only six touchdowns with three interceptions. Burrow has managed to beat Miami, Auburn, Georgia, and Mississippi State with LSU’s only loss coming to Florida. The Tigers are battle tested and at home but Nick Saban’s squad has the quarterback and overall talent advantage.
Prediction: Alabama by 10
