Georgia Football: 3 Bold Predictions as Bulldogs battle Kentucky for SEC East
2. Georgia scores a non-offensive touchdown
In order to make things happen offensively, don’t be surprised to see Wilson looking to force the issue down the field to create a spark with a big play to Lynn Bowden. That could open up Kentucky for a mistake and Georgia has playmakers on the back-end that can make plays with the football in their hands led by one of the best cornerbacks in college football in DeAndre Baker.
Georgia has four non-offensive touchdowns this season, but haven’t gotten one since their September 22nd win over Missouri. They’ve done it in a variety of ways with a pick-six, a fumble return, a blocked punt, and a punt return.
The Bulldogs are going to have a tough time finding holes in a legit Kentucky defense, and in order to breakthrough they may need a big play from their defense or special teams.
Georgia’s special teams rank sixth in FEI according to S&P+, and punt returner Mecole Hardman is explosive. Hardman returned a punt for a touchdown already against MTSU this season, and could find some running room against the Wildcats. Kentucky ranks 86th in the country in giving up 9.87 yards-per-return.
Whether it’s a punt return, blocked kick, or a defensive touchdown, look for Georgia to make a big play on special teams or defense and get a score the non-traditional way.
