Florida won’t fall all the way out of the College Football Playoff selection committee rankings this week. But the Gators are going to still fall hard, dropping a handful of spots after they were systematically beaten 38-17 by Missouri at home in the Swamp on Saturday. Without a shot at the SEC East title, the Gators are now playing solely to land the best possible bowl position, but they shot themselves in the foot for a possible New Year’s Six bid with the defeat.

Drew Lock completed 75 percent of his passes for Missouri as he finished the day with 250 passing yards and three scores in the air. Damarea Crockett led the rushing effort, piling up 114 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. In the process, the Missouri running back outgained the entire Florida backfield by a yard. And Feleipe Frans was yanked from the game early after going just 9-of-22 passing for 84 yards.

South Carolina comes to Gainesville next weekend to close out the SEC schedule for the Gators. Florida then turns its attention to FCS Idaho and the regular-season finale against Florida State before finding out where they will go this postseason.
