4. Chris Klieman, North Dakota State

Want to hire a winner? Look no further than North Dakota State’s Chris Klieman, who is 66-13 in his head coaching career, including a 14-1 record in the NCAA Div. I playoffs.

Klieman, a native of Iowa, has strong ties to the midwest. He previously was an assistant with the Bison before taking over the job, and was even the defensive backs coach at Kansas back in 1997.

Under his watchful eye, North Dakota State has won three titles in 2014, 2015 and 2017, and five Missouri Valley Football Conference crowns in a row. And if you want to break his incredible career record down a little further, seven of those 13 losses came during his lone season coaching Loras College at the Div. III level.

The Bison are a machine in FCS, and Klieman walked into a perfect situation when Craig Bohl hired him. But you have to keep the machine running if you want to win, and that is exactly what Klieman has accomplished.

By hiring someone like him, Kansas would be getting a coach with an eye for winners and winning, something they have been lacking in recent seasons.
