What fan bases are yearning for something more in college football with some major letdowns becoming a commonality year in and year out?

The college football world can be harsh to a ton of teams in the nation year in and year out. There’s more than 60 Power Five teams that all hope for the same thing each fall. Winning a national title is the ultimate goal for every blue blood program in the nation. Yet, with how dominant some teams are in the college football landscape right now it’s hard to find breathing room for the up and coming programs.

The likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, and Ohio State Buckeyes have run this sport of late. Dating back to the 2014 campaign, each national title and the bulk of the spots occupied in the College Football Playoff were by those three teams. Alabama especially is eliminating much of the parity in college football now with how many titles it wins within the past decade.

Now, this list has a few different factors that were taken into consideration. A good portion of this list considers programs that saw a ton of success of late without being able to get over the hump. Blue blood programs with very little success of late is also a very prevalent component of this ranking.

Nothing is harder to deal with emotionally for a big college football fan than something like the letdown of almost getting over the hump and then ending up with a ton of disappointment. Unfortunately, that is a reality for most in the nation outside of places like Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Clemson, S.C., right now.

Here’s a deeper look into the 20 most miserable and frustrated fan bases in college football in the midst of the 2018 regular season.
