Top 20 most tortured college football fan bases in 2018
The timing for the UCLA Bruins to bring first-year head coach Chip Kelly into the mix was good since the program was slipping under Jim Mora. UCLA could be considered one of the better programs in college football history, but hasn’t found much prominence at all in the last five years. Even with a quarterback like Josh Rosen embedded in the offense, the Bruins struggled to find success.
Although, Kelly got off to a very slow start in his time in Pasadena, with only two wins more than halfway into the regular season. Eventually, we have to believe that Kelly will lead this program to new heights. It might also take a long time to get there and it’s tough to fall out of relevance in this part of the country.
If a team like UCLA football starts falling vastly short of expectations in a place like Los Angeles, CA, other teams will overshadow them in the blink of an eye. Suiting up in this UCLA uniform should mean something to this program, but the team is severely lacking in talent and the Rose Bowl doesn’t have the same atmosphere as it did when this team was more prominent in the Pac-12 South.
However, UCLA at least has one claimed national title from way back in 1954. The presence of that claimed national title along with 17 conference titles gives the Bruins a good history to be proud about. Get back into the national picture and possibly pickup a division crown or two in the coming years with Kelly at the helm and these fans will be much more gratified.
