The build up of the UNC football program starting in the late 2000s really didn’t pan out in Chapel Hill. UNC has a lot of resources with the athletic department to make things happen on the field, but the focus seems to remain on basketball. And with good season. UNC basketball is one of the top programs in the nation, but it leaves football behind in the dust.

The past two years really had some hard times hit for UNC football fans under a head coach that was recently extended in Larry Fedora. Giving Fedora an extension makes for some more difficult times to come around the corner and a mistake that was done before it should’ve been. UNC fans once again long for a good football program.

A spike in performance for a few years behind two good quarterbacks in Marquise Williams and Mitchell Trubisky (now with the Chicago Bears) gave some relief to the fans wanting some type of positive result. Yet, the past two seasons didn’t see the Tar Heels coming anywhere close to bowl eligibility.

An athletic program with a name brand the level of UNC should be able to get at least one national title in program history. It doesn’t look like that is going to happen anytime soon and this fan base will continue to long for basketball season to start come the fall. UNC has only one win so far in 2018.
