2. More is needed from Jake Fromm if Georgia is going to compete for a national title.

Fromm wasn’t bad on Saturday night against Auburn, but Georgia will need more than a game manager if they are going to knock off Alabama in the SEC Championship, and then ultimately compete for a national championship. The level of QB play at other contending schools is just too high for the Bulldogs to get over the hump without Fromm’s play elevating to the next level.

This Georgia team isn’t on the same level defensively as they were a year ago to compensate for solid, if unspectacular, play from their QB. He was 13-of-20 for 193 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but also had what could have been a costly interception deep in Auburn territory in the second half.

The good news for Georgia is that they know that Fromm is very capable of elevating his level of play. He did so late in the season last year, and while his numbers didn’t bear it out, he made several impressive throws in the National Championship game against Alabama; he very nearly led the Bulldogs to the title last season.

Fromm has been merely mortal in games against top defenses – he’ll need to be superhuman in order to lift the Bulldogs past the Crimson Tide in a couple of weeks.
